Jenny Cashion, Secretary

Jenny Cashion has been a pediatric physical therapist and special-needs advocate her entire career. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy in 1981 from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. She has worked as a physical therapist in private practice, in agencies, and in public schools—including 12 years with Boerne ISD. During her 36-year career, she focused on pediatrics and helping to make life more functional for children who were born with various syndromes, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and autism, as well as for young children who incurred head injuries.

Jenny moved to Boerne in 1998. She and her husband have three sons, the youngest of whom, Adam, has Down syndrome and lives at home at the age of 29. Jenny has melded her technical knowledge, her experience working with children with atypical development, her advocacy for inclusion in the community for those with special needs, and her love and hope for Adam. In 2007, she became the Head of Delegation for Boerne Special Olympics (now called Boerne Blaze Special Olympics). Her heart-felt mission is to advocate for, provide opportunities for, and celebrate people with special needs in Boerne and surrounding areas.

Jenny is also very involved in her church, especially in the area of music and worship.  In addition, she is the coordinator for Jericho—a ministry of Christian fellowship for adults with special needs.

BBSO continues to grow, as does Boerne itself. Because of the increasing numbers of BBSO swimmers and inadequate pool space in the community, Jenny has taken on a new mission in becoming secretary for the Boerne Aquaplex board.
